HURLINGHAM ROAD
The transformation of an industrially designed existing retail showroom into a mixed use development including residential units, office spaces and retail space within an architectural envelope which is befitting of its location nestled within the peripheries of various conservation areas.
Embracing the essence of the area, our design showcases the timeless elegance of brick, perfectly complemented by smooth render. These predominant materials resonate with the architectural character of the region. Within the conservation area, a rich tapestry of colors and materials exists, but the strong and prevalent language of red/pink brick or white render forms a common thread. Our design philosophy draws inspiration from this material palette, incorporating examples and precedents from the local context into our proposals.
Situated at the convergence of four distinct conservation areas, our site offers an exciting opportunity to engage with a multitude of diverse characters and architectural expressions. Guided by the London Plan Policy D3, which emphasizes the importance of enhancing local distinctiveness, we have meticulously crafted our proposals to harmoniously respond to the surrounding context.
Heritage Assets – By meticulously studying the neighboring heritage assets and conservation areas, we have gained invaluable insights into their unique features, layout, orientation, street hierarchy, and proportion. Our design approach integrates these considerations to create a harmonious relationship between our proposed development and its context. We aim to contribute positively to the local distinctiveness by thoughtfully responding to the architectural fabric of the area.

Typical roof typologies – Along Hurlingham Road and Edenhurst Avenue, front gables and pitched roofs create a unified language that faces the main road. Our proposal pays homage to this captivating roofscape, seamlessly blending tradition with innovation.
Unique architectural features – We take inspiration from the striking circular brick recesses, sculpted parapet lines, and brickwork arches found in the vicinity. These exceptional details serve as precedents for our commitment to high-quality brick detailing, recesses, and deep window reveals, ensuring a captivating and memorable aesthetic.
